The tool of every self-portrait is the mirror.
You see yourself in it.
Turn it the other way, and you see the world.
- Agnes Varda
Short story
I am a UX UI Designer in Brooklyn, NY by way of curating visual art for a decade in Seattle, WA. Born in San Rafael, CA.
Long Story ↓
I was raised in a Northern California coastal soup by artists, hippies, and human rights activists. As an adult I discovered my love and ability for curating and enabling spaces for artists to exhibit their work in the Pacific Northwest. I contributed to the cultural petri dish of Seattle with a curatorial project Vignettes for over a decade. In addition I produced a series of large scale exhibitions in underused spaces that were rapidly depleting due to the development of the tech boom.
A handful of years ago I decided to shift my focus and geographic location to Brooklyn, NY. Expanding my mediums to costuming on independent films, working in the vast restaurant and bar industry of the city and becoming a childcare provider to a few families. All of these worlds have brought me to my current work as a UX UI designer. Focused on accessibility, turning this box into a circle and being of service to people’s needs through this medium.
I am dedicated to creating intuitive pathways for those who are overlooked by the structures that currently exist. Approaching design with an interest in innovating the way we perceive our relationship to technology and how to hold space for creativity, empathy and connection for future generations.
I am deeply influenced by the minds of Agnes Varda, Bell Hooks, Sophie Calle, John Berger and Jim Henson.
